SOIL, WATER AND PETIOLE TESTING
This is one of the primary but important activity of MRDBS run purely for the purpose of giving appropriate
recommendations regarding the use of manures and fertilizers. The samples received from all over
Maharashtra state are analysed for nutrient status and on the basis of the analytical data fertilizer
recommendations are given so as to increase in yield and quality of grapes and reduce quantity and total
cost of fertilizers required.
BUD TESTING
The service of testing buds for fruitfulness before October pruning is also provided by
MRDBS. This facilitates to decide exact pruning level (where the cane is to be pruned) and yield for costing.
USE OF BIO-INOCULANTS
Research is initiated at Manjri Farm, Pune
on use of micro-organisms in grape vine soils. These micro-organisms make the unavailable nutrients
available to the grape vines under calcarious conditions and the
additional quantities of fertilizers are saved by the use of these bio-fertilizers.
SUPPLY OF ROOT CUTTINGS
The scion varieties collected from
germplasm as well as different root stock varieties are further multiplied in
polyhouse having ultramodern facilities
and rooted cuttings so prepared are distributed to the members at nominal
cost.
DISTRIBUTION OF AGRI INPUTS
The imported valuable agro chemicals which are inevitable from grape farming point of view and supplied to
the members includes Gibberellic acid and GA solvents, Benzylaminopurine (6-BA), Hydrogen cyanamide,
Forchlorfenthuron (CPPU) and speciality water soluble fertilizers.
